Scholarship programm for South African children
We support South African children in their education and self realization.
Why scholarships?
After the closure of the state-run Tshedimosong School at the end of 2014, classes for about 150 students were no longer held. The public boarding school Moedwil, which is about 50 km away, would have been the responsible institution for those students from the catchment area of Tshedimosong School. However, due to the numerous closures of schools in the surrounding area, this boarding school has been at its capacity limit for years and does not have the facilities to accommodate all students. Our long-term goal is to provide the students in the catchment area of Tshedimosong School with education and thus to secure an adequate livelihood. We have taken the first step. Thanks to your help, we have been able to cover the school fees of 9 children from Tlholego for the nearby private Harmony School since 2014. We would like to continue this and give as many children as possible a chance of education.
The support of one child costs us about 100€ per month. This includes:
- School fees
- Accommodation in boarding school
- Catering
- School Uniform
- School materials (books, pens, etc.)
- Transport (to school and home one weekend a month)
- School trips
Information about the school can be found here.
For around 5 years we supported 10 kids that were attending Harmony School. The school announced in 2021 that they were no longer admitting students from grade R to grade 4. As of 2022 we opened our own little school "Tlholego School" for the little ones. You can find more information here.
All sponsored children attend Harmony School. You can find more information about the school here.
