Term I Newsletter von Taryn

In diesem Post berichtet Taryn (auf Englisch) von ihrer Arbeit in der Tlholego Eco School im ersten Semester 2025 (Januar bis April)

Dear Tlholego Family,

As we reflect on the start of 2025, we are proud to say it has been a truly successful beginning to the year. Our students have embraced the challenges and opportunities that the new term has brought, and we are already seeing tremendous growth both academically and personally.

This year, we’ve welcomed new students who have quickly become part of our school community, bringing new energy and perspectives. From the academic achievements to the positive changes we’ve experienced, it’s clear that 2025 is shaping up to be a year of progress and success.

 Academic & Emotional Development:

This term, our students have shown impressive growth in both their academic and personal development. Academically, many students have demonstrated a strong commitment to their studies, consistently working hard to improve their skills across all subjects. Their enthusiasm for learning and ability to grasp new concepts has been evident, with many achieving significant progress in areas such as Mathematics, Science, and Language Arts.

On a personal level, it has been wonderful to see how our students have blossomed. They’ve shown increased confidence in sharing their ideas, collaborating with peers, and taking on leadership roles. Their kindness, responsibility, and respect for others have been highlighted in their interactions, making our school community stronger and more supportive. We’ve seen a growth in resilience, as students have embraced challenges with a positive mindset and a willingness to learn from every experience.

This term, our students had the incredible opportunity to correspond with their sponsors in Germany and even with a school in Germany via letter writing. This connection not only allowed them to practice their writing skills but also gave them a global perspective and an exciting cultural exchange.

Overall, this term has been a true testament to the hard work, dedication, and growth of our students, and we are incredibly proud of their academic achievements and personal development. They continue to inspire us all with their efforts, and we can’t wait to see how they continue to shine in the coming terms!

 Changes and New Beginnings:

While we said a sad farewell to our Grade 2 students this term, Rea and Udi, we are grateful for the time we’ve spent with them and wish them all the best in their new school. Their new school is lucky to have received such amazing students and we send them off with all the love they deserve!

We are thrilled to welcome several new faces to our school community. Humi joined Grade 1, Omo became a part of Grade 5, and we were excited to greet Pelo and Rego in Kindergarten. Their presence has brought fresh energy and enthusiasm to our school, and we look forward to watching them grow and thrive with us.

A significant milestone this term was the move of Onka and Motlotleng from Teacher Dave’s class to Teacher Taryn’s class. This transition marks an exciting new chapter in their educational journey, and we’re proud of how well they’ve adapted to this change.

A Special Thank You to Our Volunteers and Community Members:

In addition to their academic learning, students have been fortunate to engage in a variety of enriching extracurricular activities. They enjoyed physical education, baking, sports, and art with our wonderful German volunteers, Jannis and Merle. These hands-on experiences provided a fun way to develop new skills while learning about different cultures. Students also had the opportunity to explore their creativity through art and music classes with Amo, which has been a highlight for many.

Gratitude to Tsala Ya Africa and our extended family and friends in Germany:

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Tsala Ya Africa and our dedicated German sponsors for their unwavering support and commitment to the future of our children. Your hard work, generosity, and dedication are making a profound impact on the lives of our students, empowering them to pursue their dreams and build a brighter future.

Through your continuous involvement and sponsorship, our students are not only receiving valuable educational opportunities but also gaining a broader cultural perspective and a deeper sense of hope. Your support enables us to provide resources, experiences, and programs that help shape the minds and hearts of the next generation, preparing them for success in both their academic journey and their personal growth.

We are truly grateful for the partnership we share and for the positive influence you have on our school community. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and for being a beacon of hope and opportunity for our children. Together, we are helping to build a stronger, more promising future.
